What You’ll Learn
Step’s
Step 1.
The first step is to find out if this course is right for you, you’ll learn the difference between martial arts, concentual fighting or sports, fitness ‘boxing’ and self-defence to help you make the best decision moving forwards.
Think of the course as an access course for martial arts
You can find out all of this by looking at the FAQ’s or by having conversations or a coffee with me.
Step 2.
Here are a few options of how to get started:
Do the trial programme, it’s a 2-week mini-course.
Join in on any of our classes, in all honesty, the course is designed for beginners, so if you can’t make the beginner only sessions it’s no problem.
Or
Do the intensive
A 5 hour course that gives you all the theory and over 35 defences skills. We know that sounds a lot but don’t worry, a lot of them overlap
Some people use the course as an intro to are longer programme, and it works well.
While others use it like a first aid course, once done they then do a refresher 12 months later

Your First 4 Weeks
Your self defence development begins with your first 4 weeks
Understand that this is a journey and for everyone taking part their journey is different from yours
You get to progress your way through colours and skills with little tests along the way
You’ll learn new skills and have the opportunity to test your new skills in a pressure test.
The first block is focused on wrist escapes and basic movement patterns and understanding
We will also sprinkle on additional skills through your 4 week journey.
this includes some basic
strangle examples
bearhug escapes
Floor work
and striking
Moving forward
During your first 4 weeks you would have been presented with some small-scale pressure testing (info on pressure testing in the FAQ’s)
At the end of your first 4 weeks, we test you with a pressure test (intro level) this could be on a number of things depending on what the 4-week block has been focused on, this could be wrist escapes, striking, managing space or any other type of escapes. Don’t worry though, the main aim of the pressure test is to induce a little adrenal response and add a little drama to the learning process.
This just lets us see how your likely to respond in real life and see if the basic concepts have stuck
The first for 4 weeks is what we call the L 1 content
L 1
Basic escapes
Basic striking combos
Movement and controlling space
Groundwork principles
Every 4 weeks the focus changes depending on the direction of the group and the previous 4 weeks. For example if the main focus was wrist escapes and the individual feedback was along the lines of footwork and striking, then the next 4 weeks would include more striking and footwork, while introducing you to new techniques.
This continues as you progress towards your L2
At the end of your 4 weeks, we like to have a coffee and give you some direct personalised feedback
See FAQ’s for more info on the courses
Over the course, you will achieve
new levels of confidence and practical skills
