2.6 The Grey Area

We go more into this on the level 2

The Grey area represents the common women's self-defence thinking (or what's not happening). It's the disconnect between current self defense and what is actually happening in to-days society.

Most self defence practices do not teach defense strategies involving someone you know and the issues related.

In Fact they plainly outright ignored it

This upsets me,

Back to that states: 92% of all violent attacks towards women are by a man who they know

Unfortunately this requires more development on your part

We will go into more detail in the level 2 course,

for now, here is some ideas and things you can implement

  1. talk to your friends and family and create what-ifs, for example, what if (guy in your group) did something to one of you

What are you going to do, where are you going to go first, etc etc

It's advisable to do this with every guy member of your group plus do some what ifs for other guys you know, this includes a global list of men on your street and who you know professionally

     2. Have open conversations as a group of women with one or two guys in your group at a time about gender-based violence

This gives you an opportunity to assess the level of male toxicity, their views and values relating to GBV this can give you opportunities to re-educate them or create additional strategies from there

Please bear in mind, the skills learnt in this course is for traditional self-defence thinking and extremes

The grey area requires the ability to 'play fight' and express your skills in day to day activities, not just if things go wrong.

However the skills in this course can, still be used to create fair on their part, for instance just talking about how eye it is to stamp on an ‘attackers’ (friend or not) knee cap and messing up their leg, possible for life or that you are well prepared to jam your thumbs into ANYONEs eye balls if they was to try and hurt you

Spoken with confidence and convion, they are likely to rethink anything questionable that runs through their head

level 2 goes into this in more detail and build your skills of this level

Type below: did you think this gray exists and show more self defence organisations focus there energy on this?
