Instagram Lesson 003: Part 1 Forward Momentum

Forward Momentum

Basically driving forwards, using your bodyweight and moment to create confusion and possible damage before making your controlled escape

Moving into someone that is potential trying to hurt you is counter-intuitive. However, these tactics are extremely useful, and here’s why

  1. It can scare the challenger, showing your aggression and confidence in your skills and ability.

  2. It can defuse power, meaning if they go to hit you its can, in some cases, reduce their hitting power or jam kicks etc.

  3. It puts you in control of what’s about to happen next. Moving into a clinch, or even out of their sticking or grabbing path.

This combo adds to the previews lessons and enables you to get more power into that elbow as they step away

inorder to do this, you need to step wards with the back leg and with the opposite arm, strike with the elbow of the same side

Tip:

remember to step and plant both feet before committing to the elbow (3 points of contact

Try this combo. Remember to break it down and do it in stages. If you struggling, practice each individual strick on its own before implementing it into the combo

  1. Jab

  2. Jab, Cross

  3. Jab, Cross, Step (back foot to front)

  4. Jab, Cross, Step (back foot to front), elbow

Part two will take this a little deeper
